FInally uploaded a user pic. I guess I tried a year ago and it didn't work. Guess I know a bit more about these journal thingies.

1:15 am - Prophecy
|
Prophecy was great overall.
Had it's ups:
Lot's of slash programing (the Draco panelist were hilariously entertaining!) Fanfic reading of EmmaGrant story by Umbridge (aka HazelHawthorne) A wide variety of programming topics Wonderful people in wonderous costumes. A Common Room to die for. Art room -would that it were larger... Black squirrels ouside the hotel (squeee- I'm from Boston, though we do have an albino squirrel at Jamaica Pond). Some great and learned professorial presentors. Hall of Reflection *sniff* Sphinx challenge. (yes there were problems , but the idea was great) House points. (though they should have been awarded for more things) the 2 Fan films Movie nights unplugged Wizard rock (mostly). fabulous clock decorations at the ball. Friendly volunteers. Meeting fabulous people like amanuensis1 A very well-designed program book and Conference at a glance sheet. Rescheduling some popular programming that
And it's downs:
Poor communication about event changes (only one daily Orb & Owl on Friday) *several times volunteers could not help due to lack of radios *When the disc for a fanfilm didn't work, we were told it would be rescheduled. But I saw no posts about that and happened upon it by accident when I went to see Philosopher's Stone *Mijan's slashy roundtable was rescheduled and the info sent out was incorrect *Trading post was changed - I heard two different new times given for it- due to (I believe) smoking, after-hours wizard rockers causing the Common Room to be closed. *The Sleeping Wizard Contest: I had a heck of a time finding out where to drop off my work, where the contest was and I still don't know how it was judged or if house points were awarded for winning. Not to mention, I found my painting on the floor unattended in the Civic Ballroom (Grrr), and nobody seemed to have heard about it at the closing ceremonies. *The Costume Contest (for which I spent HOURS designing and sewing beads onto my snitch dress). The program book said the judges would be looking for "Elegance, Creativity, [and] Originality" But it was just a rather odd popularity contest wherein the DJ (whom I gather may not have been a fan) picked 10 people to his liking for drunk revelers to scream for. *Vendor room closed early with no notice and was sparse, too expensive ($600. for a vender to rent space) and very poorly laid out. *The too Hogwarts-like layout of the hotel programming areas. Yes I have a TERRIBLE sense of direction. Okay, okay. I have NO sense of direction. Finding my way around was a nightmare. But that could just be me... *Poor accomidations for the mobility impaired. No seating for long lines. No seating at opening and closing ceremonies. No reserved seating etc. *Banquets: The first meal was okay, not great. Vegetarian food was sparse at the breakfast. There was no programing at the meals so they were not worth the cost. I did try to get out of it after I paid but I was assured there would be plenty of food for veggies... *PubIIV: $9.00 for Unicorn's Blood and they ran out of cherries. Whaaaa. The idea was cute. They should have had more nonalcoholic choices. Not everyone drinks. Or should drink -I didn't see them carding anyone. *Poor planning on room sizes. Popular slash panels in too small rooms.
And things I missed: Quiddich Pictionidditch Fandom Feud
Which means there is more to look foreward to at the next con. I hear there may be a HP slash con in Boston. http://bestbiscuit.livejournal.com/735.html
And Portus or Terminus $-permitting. And katze_boston and I want to start a craft collective and get a vendor table!
